Banvallsleden is an asphalt-covered cycle track with many attractions which generate natural stopping points and create a feeling of you’re on the right track.

This trail is suitable for hiking. The trail is under construction and will open again in the spring of 2016.

Banvallsleden is primarily a cycle track which follows the route taken by the old railway line between Sölvesborg and Olofström. Besökare på cykelledenThe track is approximatly 35 km long and starts by the sea in the beautiful mediaeval town Sölvesborg. From Sölvesborg via Ynde you cycle through a beautiful area of pasture land.

You follow the track in a northerly direction through Barnakälla (an old railway tunnel) which once upon a time was Skåne’s longest railway tunnel. At Barnakälla Youth Hostel, you can spend the night and bathe in a wooden barrel under a starlit sky. On the road to Näsum, Banvallsleden makes it way very close to Ivösjön, where there are opportunities to go for a swim.

In Näsum you may like to visit the church, discover Humletorkan or experience how the old gods possess you at Gudahagen - an ancient place of sacrifice and a burial ground from the Iron Age. After Näsum the countryside changes to an undulating agricultural Naturängarlandscape where you can see the farmers preparing the land during the spring. It is possible to purchase cured meats and provisions, berries and fruit in the local farm shops that sell home produce.

A few kilometres further north you will reach the Blekinge border and enter the beautiful glen along the River Holje. On the Blekinge side, you will pass the writer’s village and the small village of Jämshög which lies in a beautiful area of the countryside. Finally you will reach the mill community of Olofström.
