For pre-booked groups, we also offer hot food.
The big, red wooden house Humletorkan is a unique building which until 1959 dried hops which were used as a flavouring in beer. As most the " drought " disgorged about 8 tons per year. It is not too much to say that hop culture in his time put a stamp on Näsum neighborhood.
The 6-7 meter tall vines dominated the landscape, and in August, when the mature cones shone golden yellow against the green vines , it was a beautiful view. It is now more than 50 years ago as "Hops buildning " used to dry hops in and today the house is blooming as a café and hostel. As a visitor you can enjoy both the " Näsumaöl " made from hop from the own culture, as well as drinking a good cup of coffee with homemade cakes or sandwiches. The café , located inside the drying facility, also sells ceramics, textiles and glass by local artisans.
Outside you can see how the hops are growing and thriving and if you want you can buy yourself a hops plant to take home with you. Guided tours for groups can be arranged. In August-September, around 50 pickers gathers for a weekend to manually harvest the hops from the cultivation. The harvest Festival is called the Hop Day !
